Road safety is a critical global concern, with millions of lives at stake each year due to accidents and fatalities. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance road safety measures. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the application of AI in the context of road safety, exploring its potential to reduce accidents, improve traffic management, and save lives. The paper begins by outlining the current state of road safety globally, highlighting key challenges and areas that require attention. It then delves into the various ways in which AI is being deployed to address these challenges. This includes the use of machine learning algorithms for predictive analysis of accident-prone areas, computer vision for real-time monitoring of traffic violations, and natural language processing for analyzing driver behavior. Furthermore, the paper discusses the role of AI in developing advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicles.
