The rise of digital identity in modern ecosystems has underscored the urgency of secure, decentralized, and user-centric identity management solutions. Traditional identity systems are plagued by vulnerabilities such as centralized points of failure, lack of interoperability, and data breaches. Blockchain technology, with its inherent characteristics of immutability, decentralization, and transparency, presents a viable alternative to revolutionize identity management. This chapter explores the conceptual and practical underpinnings of blockchain-based identity management systems (BIDMS), offering a comprehensive view on their necessity, design principles, implementation strategies, and the future landscape. The global financial ecosystem has undergone a fundamental transformation due to the quick development of digital finance, which has made previously unheard-of levels of accessibility, efficiency, and innovation possible. Financial services have gradually moved from conventional physical infrastructures to technology-driven platforms, from mobile banking and digital wallets to blockchain systems, decentralized financing (DeFi), and algorithmic trading. This digital transformation has decreased transactional frictions, increased financial inclusion, and boosted economic activity, but it has also brought forth new and difficult cybersecurity issues. Ensuring safe digital financial operations has become a crucial global responsibility as cyber threats become more complex, dynamic, and unpredictable.
